It is located near the town proper and can be accessed through small boats. I think we paid like PHP75/each. (The company paid for my fare! yey! no worries Haha)
Canigao Island, a little paradise which is one of the best places to go if you happen to visit the province of Leyte. The island is surrounded with white sand and clear sea water which you can stroll and go swimming. The island or islet is so small that you can explore it in less than 30 minutes.
That's mah crazy sister right there! |
It boasts of powdery white sand, marine sanctuary, clear blue green waters and a tranquil environment. I think the beach is also perfect for playing Frisbee and beach volleyball. (and photoshoot, arti arti ganun)
The island is owned by the town and there are no resorts in there, yet. Thank God the accommodations are cheap! Haha
Small tents are also available at even cheaper rates. But tourists are allowed to set-up their own tents. There is a sari-sari store but it is best to bring your own food and supplies. Grilling areas are found in a designated area in the island.
There are very limited electrical supply there, only for charging cellphones and a few lights which makes the island more enchanting at night. Lights out at midnight.
The night belongs to the cold tropical breeze illuminated by the stars and the moon. Romantic. Simple. Mesmerizing. Chos! (wala namang stars nung time na yun, wala ding moon. Huhu)
Reminder: The island is inhabited, limited power and no water source so before going to the place make sure you bring with you plenty of water and your gadgets were fully charged or have an extra battery.
